The relative new field of Chinese-Western Comparative Literature as an academic discipline began in Taiwan in the late 60s, developed rapidly in Hong Kong from the mid-70s, and has been flourishing mightily in the China Mainland from the latter part of the 80s into the foreseeable future.
This is such a volume. The original idea we had was to continue what we started at the Chinese University of Hong Kong more than four decades ago: to gather together ideas and do research leading to further understanding of Chinese-Western comparative literature in a broad scope, starting from literary studies expanding it to include other cultural dimensions.
