故事簡介：

Malaya, 1951. Yun Ling Teoh, the scarred lone survivor of a brutal Japanese wartime camp, seeks solace among the jungle-fringed tea plantations of Cameron Highlands. There she discovers Yugiri, the only Japanese garden in Malaya, and its owner and creator, the enigmatic Aritomo, exiled former gardener of the emperor of Japan. Despite her hatred of the Japanese, Yun Ling seeks to engage Aritomo to create a garden in memory of her sister, who died in the camp. Aritomo refuses but agrees to accept Yun Ling as his apprentice "until the monsoon comes." Then she can design a garden for herself.
As the months pass, Yun Ling finds herself intimately drawn to the gardener and his art, while all around them a communist guerilla war rages. But the Garden of Evening Mists remains a place of mystery. Who is Aritomo and how did he come to leave Japan? 作者介紹
陳團英（馬來語：Tan Twan Eng) 1972年出生，是一位馬來西亞作家。
2007年至2013年止，陳團英只出版了兩本小說。
2007年，他轉投作家後出版了第一本小說《雨之賜 The Gift of Rain》，但出版過程毫不順利，多間出版社都不願替他出書，最後只有一家小出版商接受了他的作品，豈料到陳團英的處女作即入圍當年的布克獎最後13強。
2012年，他出版了第二本小說《夕霧花園 The Garden of Evening Mists》，為他帶來第二次入圍布克獎，入圍後的銷量由每星期百多本跳升至近千本，更入圍決選的最後6強，只可惜最後都是鎩羽而歸。
不過，《夕霧花園 The Garden of Evening Mists》為他贏得了第六屆的英仕曼亞洲文學獎，成為首位獲得該獎項的馬來西亞作家。同年，陳團英再下一城，繼續憑《夕霧花園The Garden of Evening Mists》贏得2013年斯科特歷史小說獎。
2019年更改編為同名電影，由馬來西亞女星李心潔、日本男星阿部寬主演，也榮獲台灣第56屆金馬獎最佳劇情長片。
